5 Reasons Why Studio Maternity Portraits Are My Favorite (and should be yours too!) | Bay Area Maternity Photographer
I love studio maternity portraits! There, I said it. As a Bay Area maternity photographer, I have had the opportunity to photograph expectant mothers in my studio, based in Belmont, and there is just something about these sessions that I adore. Studio maternity portraits are fun and easy to customize. They can be done at any time of your pregnancy, even during the first trimester if you’d like to announce your news before it’s visible for everyone else to see!
Whether you want a more minimalist look with nude or semi-nude photos in mind, or prefer a more traditional look with flowing gowns and props, the session is completely tailored to your own personal style. These photos will be cherished memories of this special time in your life that you’ll be able to look back on for years to come.
Here are five reasons why you should consider booking a studio maternity portrait session for yourself (or as a gift for a friend or family member) with me, your favorite Bay Area Maternity Photographer!
1. To feel and look your absolute best:
Pregnancy is an amazing time in a woman’s life, but it can also be challenging both physically and emotionally. A studio maternity portrait session will help you feel beautiful and confident during this special time. As a full service Bay Area Maternity Photographer, all of the hair and makeup artistry that is included in these sessions will make you look and feel like a million bucks! I say this as a mother and a Bay Area Maternity photographer, I know the stress we women go through trying to get ourselves and the family ready for portraits. I want to help take this stress away and truly make it easy for you and see you have fun during our session together!
2. To get more adventurous with your styling :
Unlike outdoor maternity sessions, which can be more limited in terms of what you can wear, studio maternity portraits offer a wide range of possibilities when it comes to clothing and props. You can choose from my collection of gowns and accessories, or if you have something specific in mind, we can work together to create the perfect look for you! At the consultation, I will work with you to understand your vision for the shoot and we will style your portraits keeping this vision in mind. I will also help you style your partner and kids if you’d like them included in the session too (the more the merrier!)
The Bay Area is home to some of the most amazing maternity gown designers in the world. If you’re looking for something truly unique and special for your maternity portraits, you’ll be able to find it here! I’m frequently working with new designers and have access to some of the latest trends when it comes to maternity gowns. So whether you want a traditional look or something more daring and fashion-forward, I can definitely make that happen!
Studio maternity portraits offer so many possibilities when it comes to styling, which means you can really express your own personal style. They also allow you to feel confident and beautiful during this special time in your life.
3. To empower yourself to embrace your curves:
If you’re feeling a bit self-conscious about the changes your body is going through during pregnancy, this session will help boost your confidence and empower you. I’m always telling my clients that they are beautiful no matter what shape or size their bodies take on during pregnancy! Posing for in studio portraits differs greatly from outdoor portraits in terms of posing. There are no other distractions like the grass or flowers or the golden sunset.. it’s just you. And I want to spotlight your beautiful body that is literally growing a human inside in the most beautiful way you’ve ever seen!
4. To create heirloom quality prints and art for your home:
Pregnancy is a fleeting time in a woman’s life and it goes by so quickly (even though you might not think that time is moving fast enough right now!). These portraits will be something you can look back on for years to come and cherish. As your Bay Area maternity photographer, I want to help create heirloom quality prints and art for your home that you will love and be proud to display.
Fine art maternity portraits are not only something that can be passed down from generation to generation, but also displayed in your home as tasteful art! I will work with you to identify areas of your home where these can be displayed and recommend the best medium to display these as well. And added bonus is that I install all portraits for my clients so you won’t have to worry about finding a handyman or stress about doing this yourself. All wall art will be hand-delivered and installed for you to enjoy- I’m not kidding when I say we are a full-service Bay Area maternity photographer!
5. To do them at a time that works for you irrespective of the weather:
Studio maternity portraits are taken in a controlled environment in my Belmont-based studio, which means the weather doesn’t play any role in your session. Bay Area weather is unpredictable, and we never know when it will rain or be super foggy here! As a San Francisco Maternity Photographer, there have been many instances of me arriving in San Francisco to photograph a client with the Golden Gate bridge in the background only to find it totally hidden behind Karl, the fog! Studio sessions allow you to book at a time that works best for you (and your schedule) regardless of season, and since they’re not dependent on the moody Bay Area weather, I truly love them!
Studio maternity portraits are my absolute favorite type of maternity session for all the reasons listed above. So if you’re looking for a Bay Area maternity photographer and looking to document your pregnancy in a truly beautiful and unique way, consider booking a studio maternity portrait session with me! I promise you won’t regret it. I would love to chat with you more about your maternity portraits!
